THE ISSUE OF myth, due to its diversity and complex character can be interpreted in various ways and it is extremely difficult or rather not possible to create one universal definition. Innumerable explanations can be quoted, depending on the specific aspect taken into account. They differ from each other in terms of scientific approach what can be confirmed by selected definitions presented in the text. The “classic” interpretation associates myth with the sacred narratives while common opinions correlate myth with antique fables about gods and demi-gods. It seems that those stories should be seen as attempts to explain the inexplicable world and such point of view leads to conclusion that a need of elucidating and clarifying reality has always existed. For a long time the power of myth used to be undervalued, but in recent years more and more scholars try to perceive it. They stress that the same great archetypes like freedom, liberty, equity, justice, etc. constantly return in every society. They are present in all ideologies and even though the interpretations may be new, the core is always the same. This so-called qualitative approach referring to unquantified sources of inspirations: fears, hopes, concerns, expectations can make the analysis of the socio-political sphere further.
