THE PAPER DISCUSSES possible views that are opening through the imaginary border between the realms of Political Science and Economics. In the historical context of continental Europe, economic knowledge was subordinated to the activity of the state, whereas the economic science was incorporated into a state-centered administrative discipline. The political scientist should be aware of whether this methodological construction is still plausible nowadays. He should also reflect upon his own attitude toward the economic discipline as such – as it can be treated either as a subsidiary (and thus subservient) provider of quantitative data for the sublime purposes of policy making, or rather as a sister science of comparable importance and complimentary scope, whose aim – in parallel with Political Science – would be to analyze a concrete human being facing situations of choice, scarcity, uncertainty, and responsibility for the results.
