THE AUTHOR PRESENTS process of forming information society in Poland and its neighborhood countries. The article discusses evolution indicators of information societies such as: the structure of employment, the number of subscribers of stationary telephony, cellular telephony and Internet. The article also comparises information activity of citizens in the countries of the region. The article is a kind of review.
