MICHAEL OAKESHOTT’S THOUGHT offers theoretical considerations on a wide variety matters and is difficult to interpretation for many reasons. This article tries to present Michael Oakeshott’s conception of political theory, which cannot be understand without recognition of philosophical roots of his thought. The idealistic conception of experience implies that all kinds of knowledge are contextual. According to this notion political theory is arrested and highly limited mode of thinking. Philosophy breaks all limitation of thinking, but political theory is always deep-rooted in some certain paradigms, although it is much more sophisticated and subversive way of considering politics than popular observations. This kind of view of political theory, which is critical for the positivist tendency in political science is also inclined to greater skepticism than philosophical concepts of revival of political theory
