The formation of the global civil community causes the e acing of division into “the natives” and “the strangers” within the framework of individual states. Integration and unification processes give a new dimension to such notions as: emigration, diaspora and national identity. Emigration is more and more o en comprehended as civilization phenomenon. Its positive economic, political and cultural advantages are the focus of attention; the countries that receive emigrants very often reap the economical benefits and the emigrants themselves solve the problems of unemployment in their own countries; migrational movements, on the other hand, help solve political and social problems, make the global integration, and mixing of cultural and civilization norms easier. Emigration itself helps to achieve cultural compromises, get used to mutual dissimilarities and accept differences.

The problem Dnieper hydropower development in the works of researchers Ukrainian Scientific Institute in Warsaw (1930 – 1939 years).
In 1930 Ukrainian scientist in exile established The Ukrainian Scientific Institute in Warsaw. The staff of the Institute carefully monitored the processes of the industrialization and collectivization in the USSR. Famous Ukrainian scientists Shovheniv I. and Ivanys V. in their works published four texts related to the problem of the hydro construction on the river Dnieper. They emphasized the magnitude and complexity of these works, marked the creation of the major producer of the electricity and the waterways through the rapids. Simultaneously, researchers pointed to a number of disadvantages: problems with fisheries, lack of anti-malarial operations, poor navigable infrastructure of the Dnieper and more. Shovheniv I. was not agreed with the exclusive appropriation the Dnieprostroi’s achievements by the Soviet authorities. He showed specific examples of such important hydro technique works in various countries, described the evolution of the river regulating operations in the Russian Empire and the Ukrainian state.

Co można zrobić, by tę gotowość podnieść?

EDIZIONE STRAORDINARIA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! – NOTES ON THE LANGUAGE OF ADVERTISEMENTS IN THE FIRST EDITIONS OF THE GAZZETTA DEL MASSACHUSETTS
In this article, I base my research on Franco Pierno’s 2012 article on “la lingua raminga,” which studies the Italian subcode used in the first ethnic journalistic publications in North America. First, I present some history of advertising in Italy, focusing, then, on how that translated in the ItaloAmerican setting in Massachusetts. In the bulk of the paper, I analyse the advertisements published in the first issues of the Gazzetta del Massachusetts (GdM; from 1903 and 1904), exploring in detail the employment of loanwords, both whole and adapted, over the course of the GdM’s early publications. I break my discussion down into the following sections of linguistic study: spelling and phonetics; morphology; vocabulary; and syntax. I conclude with some final thoughts on whether the increase in loanwords coincides not just with the greater size of the Italian community in Boston, but also the deeper linguistic assimilation of the predominant anglophone culture.

W artykule ukazuje się zmiany w polskiej polityce migracyjnej. Przyjęcie dokumentu „Polska polityka migracyjna” w ramach Strategii na rzecz Odpowiedzialnego Rozwoju do roku 2020 spowodowało stworzenie polskiego modelu aktywnej polityki migracyjnej, w którym założono m. in. zarzadzanie procesami emigracyjnymi, imigracyjnymi, integrację cudzoziemców, a także uwzględniono politykę bezpieczeństwa państwa.

The aim of this article is to present the life and achievements of Stanislaw Lis-Kozlowski in exile, with particular emphasis on his contribution to Polish culture. The analysis is based on source texts, Argentinean polonica, prose memoirs of emigrants in Argentina, Polish emigrant journals, as well as other publications related to the life and activity of Lis-Kozlowski. An important source of information for this biography was the Argentine collection of the Library of the Poznan Society of the Friends of Science (in Polish: PTPN), the archival collection held in the Ignacy Domeyko Polish Library in Buenos Aires (Biblioteca Polaca Ignacio Domeyko) and the archives of the Franciscan Monastery in Martin Coronado in Argentina. The study required the use of appropriate research methods, such as biographical interpretive method and narrative analysis.

The article encourages comparative perspectives on people who emigrate and immigrate. It draws attention to the knowledge of the history of migrations: most European countries faced emigration in the early 20th century, while in the beginning of the 21st century, they witness immigration that exceeds emigration. The most common reason for immigration in Slovenia is employment. Work permits are issued to people who come to work here, because they are needed. Yet, it is people who come, not workforce, and these people have families. Consequently, the second most common reason for immigration is family reunification. When discussing immigration, we underrate the role of bilateral agreements, yet they pave the way for greater economic migration between the signatories. Knowing the migrations of past and present, including official statistical data and the emigration-immigration perspective, it is extremely important to understand that there are people behind these numbers. The article comprises a recommendation to publish texts that include not only numbers, but also people with their life stories, immigrants and emigrants in the same publication. To develop intercultural education, it is essential that migrations and diversity are a part of the curriculum and teaching materials.

Emigration constatations by Jerzy Giedroyc and Gustaw Herling-Grudziński in 1983. French and Italian perspectives
From the beginning of the 1830s, mass emigration from Poland, not occurring on such a scale before, was noted, mainly for political reasons (especially after the defeats of the November and January uprisings). The emigration trend continued throughout practically the entire 20th century. It entered the history of Poles, especially the war and post-war period. The coming to power of the communists generated many problems. For political reasons, many dissidents sought freedom outside enslaved Poland. Many of them voluntarily and also under the compulsion of the then “people’s” government. There were two main centers of the political and cultural life of the Polish diaspora – in London and Paris. The Literary Institute, with its founder Jerzy Giedroyc and collaborator Gustaw Herling-Grudziński, played a significant role in the post-war period. Both, despite having different experiences and visions of a free and independent Poland, unanimously saw emigration as a specific form of struggle against the communist regime in Poland. They saw help and weapons in this struggle in the spoken and written word, through which they influenced both the Polish diaspora in many countries and their compatriots in Poland, which was subjugated by communists. They noticed the entire complexity of the problems faced by Polish emigrants, especially those arriving abroad at the beginning of the 1980s. Their accurate diagnoses and advice were not always accepted by the Polish diaspora. The interviews with them in a retrospective form reflect the atmosphere and spirit of the difficult and complex reality of that time.
