The aim of the text is to analyse author’s own reflective research practice and to give an account of a few exemplifications of tools supporting the self-evaluation process of own academic work, carried out under a case study strategy. Contemporarily, the process of empirical material collection and analysis can be supported by various computer-assisted technologies. The article attempts to present their employment in the self-evaluation approach and the value they have when they are used in qualitative inquires.

Pogranicze, rozumiane jako miejsce spotkania kultur, z jednej strony może przynosić wiele korzyści dla życia i rozwoju jednostki, z drugiej, być przyczyną problemów i dylematów. W artykule wykorzystano koncepcję edukacji międzykulturowej w ujęciu Jerzego Nikitorowicza, a w badaniach posłużono się metodą indywidualnych przypadków. Materiał empiryczny stanowiący podstawę prowadzonych rozważań został zebrany za pomocą autorskich kwestionariuszy wywiadów oraz analizy dokumentów. Wyniki badań opisują trudności, jakie w kraju przyjmującym napotkali rodzice i ich dzieci, oraz korzyści i zalety, jakie dostrzegają, żyjąc poza granicami ojczyzny.

The presented paper focuses on the impact of intervention with the application of the SMARTS program on students’ metacognitive abilities. The metacognitive program SMARTS, a product of RILD1 (Research Institute for Learning and Development, Lexington, Massachusetts, the author Lynn Meltzer), was translated, adapted, and pilot-tested in the Slovak educational context conditions. In the form of qualitative intervention case studies, the paper analyses (1) the diagnostic potential of SMARTS revealing deficits in students’ metacognitive abilities (organisation and prioritisation), (2) an intervention to improve a student’s specific metacognitive ability, (3) outcome (stagnation/progress/ regression) of the intervention. The results obtained by direct participatory observation applied in the intervention point to a possible positive impact of the SMARTS program on the observed metacognitive abilities of students.

In the European Union, the United States and other countries of the so-called Western world, the perception of the functionalities of AI, and other instruments of Industrial Revolution 4.0 significantly differs from its perception by the PRC’s authorities, which – for a few years – have been implementing solutions aimed at comprehensive scrutiny and social supervision rather than facilitating life and work. This idea has been reflected in the so-called Social Credit System since at least 2014 and has given rise to plenty of controversies and disputes, unfortunately based on emotions and imprecise interpretation of the characteristics, aims, and implementation of the project rather than knowledge. While the new, digital model of social management in China is extensively discussed in the literature, it is rarely addressed in Polish studies, which results in the scarcity of publications on this subject. This paper attempts to fill this gap by presenting the essence of the system and the progress of its implementation.

The article contains case study of vicarious liability of the trainer’s employer, for personal injury of the sportsman, occurred during the training. The article contains four never published before judgements – two criminal and two civil – in the case, and the analyze of method used by the Court to apply the law. In this way the article is a step to understanding polish civil law in action.

The article addresses the issue of the social implications of participating in religious groups, with particular emphasis on shaping the type of social capital among members of the mentioned religious groups or any group of a religious nature. It is not sufficiently represented in research work on modern sociology, especially the sociology of religious and modern lives, considering the context of the functioning of a modern man in their interpersonal space. To this end, qualitative research was carried out involving individual case studies. Various qualitative techniques were used: interviews, an analysis of document contents, photographs, biographies, observing participants in their social activities, trust, social ties (among members of the mentioned groups), the social roles of members, the implementation of social functions, participation in the common good, and the values and norms of social coexistence that guide the studied person. These imply the emergence of negative social capital, closing social capital, amoral familism and strong bonds in the norms developed by the group to which the analysed case belongs.

Globalization Processes in Sub-Saharan African Countries – A Case Study of Kenya and Tanzania

The aims of this article are: (1) presentation of changes in the level of globalization in Kenya and Tanzania (2) comparison of countries in terms of globalization level (3) identification of the main globalization processes taking place in the countries. To ensure economic development in Tanzania and Kenya, it is necessary to implement globalization processes and monitor the level of globalization. For this purpose, statistical data analysis and comparative analysis using the KOF Index have been employed. Progressing globalization was found in Kenya and Tanzania, and based on this, it was decided to make a thorough analysis of which aspects have increased the most. For this purpose, the KOF Index of Globalisation analysis was used for these countries and on this basis the strongest development areas in the last 22 years were identified, as well as a comparative analysis of globalization in Kenya and Tanzania was made. The studies have shown that the level of globalization is increasing in both Kenya and Tanzania, with Kenya exhibiting a higher level. This difference might primarily stem from the economic policy orientation – Kenya focuses on trade openness, whereas Tanzania emphasizes support for domestic sectors of the economy and local entrepreneurs. The areas in which countries have developed the most are social processes. The ongoing processes of globalization can support both the growth and economic development of the analyzed countries, thereby potentially help reduce the main social and economic challenges in Kenya and Tanzania.

The problem of the study is to substantiate the content of the implementation of the case method of teaching. The article outlines the content of the case method of future bachelor training based on qualitative research. In the example of the academic subject “Cross-cultural studies and projects”, the main steps of developing cross-cultural student projects are traced. The main requirements for creating cross-cultural projects within the distance form of education are defined. The significant result of the study is that the use of teaching methods opens opportunities for students to master the content of professional training.

The paper presents 5C (Creation, Cooperation, Context, Creativity and Communication) business case study solving methodology. This methodology is applicable to various real life business problems and it focuses on completely practical structure. It has been developed through the learning by doing practice of Industrial Engineering and Management students at the University of Novi Sad, Republic of Serbia, during many national and international student business case study competitions for many years. Together with their mentors, students improved their own study program and accepted this useful concept as their basic tool when preparing for tasks and problems they are facing.
