The local elections held in Iceland in May 2022 were carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, which entered into force on January 1, 2022. This whiff of news also influenced the course of the elections, the result of which shows that Icelanders want change in local ranks, although the results for the city of Reykjavik may suggest the opposite2. And it would seem that it would be possible to pass the local elections without deeper reflection, if not the fact that the political reshuffles at the local political scene surprised even the most interested.
