The article presents an analysis of the transformations in private space and spatial practices manifested by students in connection with long-term online university education during the COVID-19 pandemic. The text includes a presentation of the results of a series of four focus group interviews carried out in 2021 via Zoom platform with students drawn from a few Polish colleges. The research sample was diversified in terms of gender, field of study, type of college, and mode of study. The research suggests key dimensions shaping the experience of remote university study: the spatial dimension, technological dimension and the organisational-educational dimension. Four basic kinds of student experiences are presented as well. The analyses also include a description of spatial practices such as: changing or adapting space for remote university education, negotiating spatial boundaries and attempts to ameliorate conflicts resulting from the interaction of diverse social roles and institutional orders in the same domestic space.

The article demonstrates the expediency of integrating of knowledge of the structure and properties of substance and building materials. It is shown that this approach avoids duplication of related material, overcomes inconsistency in the interpretation of concepts, the use of quantities and units of their measurements. Didactic requirements for the implementation of the ideas of integrated learning of related material are substantiated, the integrated content of knowledge of the substance and materials is worked out, different forms and methods of knowledge integration are tested depending on the nature of the integrated material. Special feedback from teachers of special technology and masters of industrial training is received. The training offered by our programs also receives a positive assessment of the students due to the decrease in the workload, the reduction of homework with the same educational significance, the availability of special concepts, the emergence of interest in the study of physics. The experiment reveals that integrated lessons, lectures, laboratory and tests, as well as integrated questions, tasks with integrated content, concretization and supplementation of physical knowledge with general and special ones, use of complex tasks, etc. are found to be effective forms of knowledge integration. Generalization of the results of the experimental work shows the benefits of learning oriented programs that involve the integration of students’ knowledge about the structure and properties of substance and building materials. It is important not to overburden any educational process with excessive integration, but to focus on its optimal use: in fact, the laws of educational integrology are aimed at it.

The paper aims at determining the differences in self-evaluation of the motives for playing online video games among university students. The presence of differences between the two genders was built on the assumption that in our cultural environment various gender roles, such as rebellion, non-conformity and refusal to comply with norms, are more typical of the male gender role, and also when it comes to playing online video games. The results of the survey have shown that there are differences between female and male students concerning the motives for playing online video games, which suggests the need to record these indicators, in particular the negative ones, within the university environment.

One of the basic conditions of human life (and the ways of experiencing it) is that it is temporal and the our lifetime is limited. Today we observe fast technological changes, access to a lot of information and frequent necessity to execute tasks quickly, which is why many people experience limits of time necessary to perform their action. Conscious of their own mortality, people also experience the limits of their own lifetime. In this context, the question, what would it mean for a given individual “to make proper use of time” seems to be quite important. Research was conducted on a group of 127 students. The objective of the research was to obtain answers to exploratory questions: What are the individual concepts of that, what does “proper time use” mean for students (both in short-term perspective and lifetime perspective). In order to discover the individual concepts of “proper time use”, a questionnaire containing open questions was constructed. Th e questions were connected with three time use perspectives: a week of study, a week of holidays and the whole life. It corresponds with the division made by Popiołek (2010) into two perspectives, in which time is captured by the man: every day time and lifetime. Answers were categorized. The most frequent criteria of “proper time use” were: attaining objectives (74%), pleasure and seeking sensations (61%), relations with other people (49%), personal development (34%) and life satisfaction (30%). Definite majority of the answers were general and pointed to a lack of deeper reflection on their lives, on “how I would like to make use of my lifetime”. The results obtained may have application value – based on them, initial postulates were proposed for work on increasing self-consciousness of students in the respect of time management.

The article presents the author’s integrated course, which is directly aimed at the parallel development of students’ soft- and hard-skills who master the profession in the automotive industry. Hard skills formation requires the acquisition of professional knowledge and implementation of instructions that can be tested through the exam. In contract, softskills include general, supra-professional skills (social, intellectual and volitional competencies, sociability, teamwork skills, leadership skills, creativity, punctuality , emotion management skills, etc.). In the coming years, significant changes are forecast in the automotive industry, in the design of heat engines, aimed not only at their improvement in particular, but also at the use of fundamentally new designs and types of engines. Under such conditions, a significant number of specialists will be forced to retrain, in the process of which fundamental training, the formation of softskills in particular, should be a significant help. It is covered a long time to quantify the effectiveness of the integrated special course, and three leading softskills (critical thinking, creativity and cognitive flexibility) are identified. It is concluded that the integration of softand hard skills is an effective means of developing knowledge, skills and thinking, which contributes to improving the professionalism of professionals. The study of the proposed author’s course gives positive changes in the professional competence of future automotive professionals.

Learning in unknown circumstances is a great challenge for young people, particularly those who lack the ability to regulate their emotions. This text presents the results of research on the image of the life of students in higher grades of primary school, measured by the sense of self-efficacy and the sense of helplessness. The research was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic among 303 students. It was found that (1) students rather express their belief in their own effectiveness (agency), and, at the same time, (2) half of the students indicated the feeling of helplessness; (3) helplessness is significantly higher among girls; (4) in the case of girls, there is a clear and strong negative relation between the sense of effectiveness and the helplessness.

The article discusses transformations of political science studies in Poland in the last two decades. The emphasis is put on the changes that took place in higher education system and in political science itself, as well as on the fact that the number of political science higher education institutions is increasing together with the number of candidates for the studies, political science students and graduates. The condition of political science studies is compared to the condition of other, selected faculties. Data presented in this article shows that political science, as a faculty, recently underwent rapid changes. Fast increase in the number of students in the 90’, as well as in the number of educational institutions at the beginning of the XXI century caused political science to become one of the most popular faculties in Poland. However, in the past few years the total number of students has been decreasing, political science students included. This change is significant enough to have an influence on the condition of educational institutions, many of which face difficulties maintain the faculty. What is important, these changes seem to be independent of the tendency observed in higher education in Poland in general, as well as other faculties.

Employability, understood as a set of achievements – skills, knowledge, personal qualities – that make graduates employable and successful in their profession, is more and more often a subject of research, both in the context of improving the educational offer of universities, as well as examining the quality of life and professional satisfaction of graduates. Employability is differentiated from employment – the state of having a job. In today’s unstable job market where temporary contracts and protean-type careers dominate – equipping graduates with the resources to effectively change or modify their career path is crucial. The paper aims to present the psychometric proprieties of a Polish adaptation of the A. Rothwell and Arnold Self-Perceived Employability Scale. The final version consists of 9 items and has good psychometric properties. The study of the perceived employability of students provides important knowledge regarding the graduates’ competencies, and it is an important factor in modifying the educational offer at universities and planning graduates’ satisfying careers in the contemporary unstable job market.

This paper aims to shed some light on the correlation between teacher stress, on the one hand, and motivation of teachers and students, on the other hand – observed in an EFL environment. The data sample comprising responses given by EFL teachers and students from the primary education cycle was collected via the teacher stress measurement scale and motivation for learning scale, applied for teachers and students, respectively. Apart from the basic descriptive statistics used to describe the relationship between the variables, the paper’s methodology is also characterised by applying the Pearson correlation coefficient. The results led to interesting conclusions; while, as expected, workload directly affects stress levels of teachers, who, following the results, are highly motivated to work with teenagers, contrary to what could be believed, teacher motivation is not directly related to student motivation, what could be further analysed in the future studies.

Implementation Interdisciplinary Relations for Application of Computer Methods Content Analysis

The article substantiates the importance of interdisciplinary connections between informatics and sociology, the expediency of studying computer methods of content analysis by college students. An analysis of theoretical sources has been implemented to understand the essence of the concepts of content analysis, computer methods of content analysis. Content analysis is considered as a method that allows you to study the objects, phenomena, processes and properties of social reality presented in text data. Content analysis includes processing, evaluation, and interpretation of the form, content of texts and sources of textual information. It is proved that computer software allows to automate and speed up this process, to avoid the subjectivity of the researcher’s judgments, and to increase the amount of information being processed. The article emphasizes the importance of mastering content analysis by students, since these skills will contribute to their ability to assess the properties of information flows, understanding the nature of information confrontation, the formation of critical, algorithmic thinking and information technology competence. The article describes a pedagogical experiment on the integration of sociology and computer science for college students. The purpose of the experiment is the development of computer methods of content analysis for sociological research. The experiment provides for the coordination of thematic plans of disciplines and the development of laboratory work in informatics for the experimental group. The topics of laboratory work on the use of individual computer methods for content analysis are outlined. The use of the MS WORD text editor for manual coding of text data and partial implementation of content analysis is provided; MS Excel spreadsheets for creating a content analysis matrix, calculating the frequency of various words in texts and further interpreting the content; a special automated package for content analysis QDA MINER (free LITE version). The features of the use of each of the programs, their resource potential and complexity are determined. Criteria for evaluating control sections (analytical reports) created by students at the beginning and at the end of the experiment have been developed. Criteria: manifestation of system effective knowledge; availability of reasonable conclusions; the presence of an attempt to adequately predict social phenomena; visualization of the results of content analysis. The results were measured and compared in dynamics, and the effectiveness of the implemented methods was analyzed. The effectiveness of the experiment was proved, which is confirmed by an increase in the average score in the experimental group compared to the control group. The article presents a statistically valid conclusion about the effectiveness of the proposed methods in the experimental group at a significance level of 0.05. Mathematical testing of statistical hypotheses about the reliability of the results was carried out using Student’s t-test for two independent samples.

Digitalization of Education as a Vector of Training of Specialists in the XXI Century

The article deals with the analysis of phenomenon of digitalization of higher education as a factor of training of specialists who are able to provide professional functions in socio-economic conditions in the XXI century. The major directions of application of digitalization in education have been analyzed, the characteristic of digital educational environment has been carried out, the advantages and disadvantages (risks, related to the loose of skills in written fixation of the main ideas of the proposed material due to using electronic versions of educational programs, and, as a result, deterioration of the ability to remember and rethink it; risks of impaired ability to absorb large amounts of information due to «digest mania»; the risk of students’ developing so-called screen dependence; risks of possible reduction of mental abilities – «development of digital dementia»; risks of displacing live intercourse as communication, which in many cases is significantly more relevant for participants of the educational process than electronic learning technologies; risks related to health; threats posed by cybercrime; risks of system failures; risks of information manipulation) of digitalization of education have been highlighted. It has been generalized that digitalization of education – is a step to future that will change not just a content of educational courses, but also is a vector of information presentation. Development of digital technologies in the field of education is dictated by relevance and supported at the state level and in general. Digitalization – is a new social situation of «digital divide», «digital citizenship», «digital socialization». It has been emphasized that in the process of digitalization the structure of studying and the organization of the educational process are fundamentally changing. Use of new information and communication technologies is an initial condition of further development of digital pedagogy. From the point of view of methodology, digitalization of the higher education system is based on new educational standards, using the competence approach. It has been stated that today Ukrainian institutions of higher education use two-component information and educational environment, which combines the resources of international educational platforms with the content of personal developments, which contributes to the development of their own information potential. At the same time, it has been summarized that nowadays it is necessary to introduce modern digital base of educational process – the information and educational environment (IEE). The efficient implementation of the IEE is a basis for the development of any IHE. It has been found that digitalization of higher education will make changes in the qualification requirements of the teaching staff. Thus, instructors actively use digital technologies. IHE use new formats of knowledge transfer, first of all online courses. Such actions will lead to a serious restructuring of the educational process, changing the role of the teacher, who will not further explain any material, but will help to find the location of the necessary information and understand it.
