Labour is a basic element of every human’s life. It significantly influences not only our value system, personality or behaviour, but also life of the whole society. Therefore, it is not unusual to work as a prisoner as it is not unusual to work as a free man. Labour is understood as the acknowledgment of the same rule that’s applicable both to prison and the outside world. This article discusses labour as a form of resocialization. It describes good sides of resocialization through work that’s being implemented at organizational units of the Prison Service, employment of convicts and also actions taken as part of the state programme “Work for prisoners.” Work performed while serving a sentence, based on rules of equal treatment, is very important in the resocialization process. It takes up convicts’ free time, thus lowering the probability of occurrence and continuation of negative behaviours and attitudes. It teaches them the role of a worker and adjusts their consciousness to the relation between satisfaction of needs and necessity of performing occupational work, an important element of their preparation for life on the outside. Therefore, it is a positive forecast for their social readaptation, which is an indisputable purpose of serving a sentence.

Education of Inmates in Polish Prisons and Remand Centre
The aim of the article is an attempt to analyze the education system of prisoners in Poland. This work is based on the available literature. The author has attempted to answer the following questions: What were the most important assumptions and legal conditions of education of inmates in Polish penitentiary units? What is the structure and organisation of the education system in penitentiary isolation? The methodology used to create the publication was to conduct a critical analysis of legal acts and other documents available on the Internet. In the course of the literature analysis, the author points out that the legislation on education in penitentiary isolation has changed over the last hundred years, but it has always been aimed at giving inmates a chance to re-enter the labour market and prevent a return to crime.

Corruption in a broad, general sense is perceived as an important social problem that occurs in all spheres of human activity. This phenomenon develops according to the dynamics of changes in a given society. What remains unchanged over the years is that the purpose of corruption is material goods and personal benefits. The subject of this article is the phenomenon of corruption occurring in penitentiary units in the context of their security. When considering the issue of corruption, particular attention should be paid to the judicial authorities and places where perpetrators of crimes, including persons convicted for bribery, are serving sentences, i.e. prisons or detention centers.
