Sap of Ukrainian Folk Songs”, "Transformed into the Poet's Ebullient Blood”: Franko Reception of Shevchenko's Perebendia.
The article analyzes Franko's conceptual reception of Shevchenko's poem Perebendia. It has been remarked how organically Shevchenko wove oral elements belonging to different levels into the text canvas and how scrupulously Franko managed to trace the folklore code of Kobzar's poetic world. It has been emphasized that the ballad genre performed a special role in Shevchenkols oeuvre. Focus has been placed on the effect of ballad components, which are significant psychological markers.

Inclusions of socio-political matters and matters considered in terms of outlook in the medieval art history research. Case studies
Medieval art frequently had political functions. After depicting the scope of political aspects and an example of political thoughts in Ottonian illuminated manuscripts there is an analysis of perspectives on medieval art. For example, point of view at Romanesque architecture can be marked in terms of outlook typical for a particular period. All the more important is the large-scale recent research on Romanesque architecture in Poland. There are attempts at demythologization of art and attempts to free the approach to art from ideology. Two different examples of well-known Gothic equestrian statues were discussed. Approaches to both sculptures and reception of them became politicized. The aim of discussions in this article was to point the political aspects in approach to works of art and in analyses of them. One of the conclusions is that the changing within the space of time political factor should be in many cases taken into consideration. In addition to that, the works of art should always be treated first of all as aesthetic, artistic objects.

Artykuł obejmuje zagadnienia z zakresu resocjalizacji kreującej i pedagogiki teatru. Rozważania wynikają z realizacji projektu warsztatów teatralnych w ośrodku kuratorskim z młodzieżą niedostosowaną społecznie. Efektem tych działań był spektakl teatralny, a reakcje i interpretacje odbiorców badano autorskim Kwestionariuszem recepcji widza. Inspiracją do podjęcia tak zakrojonego działania stała się koncepcja twórczej resocjalizacji Marka Konopczyńskiego, zogniskowana wokół rozwijania potencjalności i kreowania nowych, indywidualnych kompetencji. Etapy pracy teatralnej były koherentne i odpowiadały fazom procesu twórczego. Recepcja widzów została skategoryzowana poprzez zadane w kwestionariuszu pytania, a całokształt uzyskanych wypowiedzi, tych lapidarnych i narracji o pełniejszym kształcie, tworzy ciekawą, nasyconą humanizmem optykę wydarzenia.

Cristina Campo and the reception of Gustaw Herling-Grudziński in Italy
Among other records, the Archive of Gustaw Herling-Grudziński in Naples holds Cristina Campo’s unpublished letters to him. The letters bear witness to a literary relation between the two writers and intellectuals which began when Pale d’altare, a volume of short stories by HerlingGrudziński, was translated into Italian and published in Italy in 1960. Cristina Campo, a poet, essayist, translator and prominent figure in 20th-century Italian literature, was enthusiastic about HerlingGrudziński’s volume. She comprehensively discussed it in an insightful review entitled ‘La torre e l’isola,’ published in Il Punto in 1961. Her review marked Herling-Grudziński’s debut in Italy and became a highly influential factor in the Italian reception of his literary works. The author himself regarded it as one of the most important critical texts addressing his writings. The aim of my paper is to highlight the relevance of Cristina Campo to the Italian reception of Herling-Grudziński’s works and to illumine the relations between the Polish writer and his Italian critic through the unpublished letters preserved in the Herling-Grudziński Archive. The paper also refers to other reviews of Pale d’altare, which were offered by Elèmire Zolla, Roberto Calasso, Margherita Guidacci and Leone Traverso, associated with the same literary circle, and shows the impact of Campo’s enthusiasm on some of these appraisals.

ITALIAN EDUCATION AND PEDAGOGICAL THINKING IN POLISH HISTORICAL-PEDAGOGIC LITERATURE
The Italian education system and Italian pedagogical thinking have proud traditions. Italian education and its school system aroused and still arouse much interest among Polish educational historians, and numerous books and articles continue to be published on these subjects. these works provide the knowledge of the development of the Italian school system and Italian education across all historical periods; however, humanistic education issues and the meaning of Italy’s pedagogical thinking for the development of new educational concepts are discussed most frequently. Polish educational historians study Saint John Bosco’s and Maria Montessori’s views on education, providing critical analysis of education reforms introduced during Benito Mussolini’s rule. Polish academic works and popular science works published in the last two centuries, which are an interesting source of knowledge for Polish readers, give a compelling account of the Italian education system and Italian pedagogical thinking of the past. there is no doubt that Poles’ knowledge about the development of Italian educational ideals was significantly broadened by numerous historical and pedagogical publications. It should be noted that the most prominent Polish historians of education who speak Italian and know Italy’s archival sources and its rich academic literature had written about Italy’s education. As a result, their works have an important cognitive value, and they show that Poles not only had admired Italian education, but they also had been able to critically assess foreign pedagogical ideals. Additionally, the publications show that, in some historical periods, interest in the Italian education system and Italian pedagogical thought was great (notably, during the Renaissance), while in some centuries (such as the 19th century), it was scant.

This study focuses on Michał Wiszniewski’s interest in Dante. Wiszniewski was a professor of history and literature at the Jagiellonian University of Krakow and was fond of Italy. This work aims to outline Wiszniewski’s contribution to the Polish reception of Dante in the first decades of the 19th century. The study recalls Wiszniewski’s three Italian trips and his book, Podróż do Włoch, Sycylii i Malty (A Journey to Italy, Sicily and Malta), which contains numerous mentions of Alighieri. The main part of the study is dedicated to the analysis of his manuscript Dante Alighieri, kept in the Jagiellonian Library (ms. 948 fasc. 7), which has not been carefully examined until now. This manuscript features an outline of a portion of a literature course taught by Wiszniewski in the 1830s, a lesson concerning the life and work of Dante (particularly the Commedia). The professor describes the two faces of Dante: the scholastic one (in prose) and the poetic one (in verse); explains the poem’s title and the structure of the afterlife; admires the extraordinary plasticity of Dante’s images; and translates into Polish a passage from the Convivio and three episodes from the Inferno. The content of his lesson is compared with other earlier and contemporary Polish studies (of very limited number) on the Poet, as well as with the general trends of Dante criticism of that time and with the Dante scholarship of the Polish Romantic poets. The analysis carried out shows that Wiszniewski’s contribution to Dante studies is, in principle, close to Romantic criticism, but it also follows some Neoclassical trends. In the present study, we do not analyse the article Studia nad Dantem (1847) because of its uncertain attribution (as we try to show).

Andrea Camilleri in Poland: An Attempt at Synthesis
Andrea Camilleri (1925–2019), one of the most prominent contemporary Italian writers, made a name for himself and won extraordinary popularity with readers as an author of crime fiction, including novels and short stories. Italian literary critics regard him as an undisputed master of Italian mystery writing. The paper seeks to synthetise the available data on the reception of Camilleri’s work in Poland by the end of 2021. The argument begins with an outline of Camilleri’s life and work, which is followed by a survey of the studies of his writings. These findings are complemented with statistics concerning his books on the Polish publishing market. Camilleri’s writing and publishing career represents an interesting research field that has been explored by Polish scholars for more than twenty years now. His fiction, which found its way into Poland with a considerable delay, has since garnered the appreciation of both readers and literary critics, as well as inviting interest from the media. Camilleri’s art as a novelist has also drawn the attention of Polish scholars, primarily literature researchers.

From ideologisation to patriotism: receptions of A. Mickiewicz’s model “Poet and people” in the ukrainian literary criticism of the XX – beginning of the XXI century
The article is devoted to the research of reception of A. Mickiewicz’s model “the Poet and the People” in twentieth- century Ukrainian writers’ criticism. The writers traced the canon of relations between the artist and society created by A. Mickiewicz, which had a profound influence on the literature of Polish Romanticism. Considering the reception of the ‘poet and people’ paradigm, the authors of the article note that Ukrainian poets of the Soviet period were forced to dissect certain artistic phenomena through the prism of the communist ideology of the time. One of the most consistent and productive interpreters of A. Mickіewіcz among Ukrainian writers was M. Rylskyi. He left a considerable inheritance of literature and publicist articles about the Polish poet. M. Rylskyi as a critic gave the deepest scientific standards to the analysis of the poetics of A. Mickіewіcz’s works. He did not cast aside the generally accepted scheme of the creative evolution of the Polish poet but cautioned researchers from the monolinear measuring of it. M. Rylskyi was the first one in Ukrainian Mickіewіcz Studies who noticed that mixing of styles was inherent in А. Mickіewіcz’s works during all of his creative life. M. Rylskyi allowed the identification of the poet Konrad Wallenrod with A. Mickiewicz himself, warning that after all the person of the hero does not reflect and cannot reflect the personality of the author. M. Rylskyi described Konrad Wallenrod as mysterious and contradictory, as was A. Mickiewicz. The article also compares the interpretations of M. Rylskyi and Polish researchers and writers, in particular, Maria Cieśla-Korytowska and Jan Kasprowicz. The authors trace that the Ukrainian poet D. Pavlychko was the first in Ukrainian literary criticism to draw attention to the idea of Europe in the artistic and ideological system of A. Mickiewicz as the idea of the Fatherland.
